This week, a report by global law firm Baker & McKenzie highlighted that Latin America remains an attractive target for investors despite ongoing political instability and economic recession. The Latin American Lawyer discussed challenges and opportunities in the region through our series “A conversation with… ” in which the founding partners of our Advisory Board gave their predictions for 2016. See our analysis section for the series which concludes with the interviews with Jaime Carey, with Carey in Chile and Luis Carlos Rodrigo Prado, with Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano in Peru.

Elsewhere in the region, Holland & Knight advised Mexican lender Infonacot on its $95 million securities issuance while Davis Polk was instructed on the equity offering of Rumo Logística, the Brazilian intermodal logistics operator.

Among other market moves, Jose Sariego, former legal affairs chief at Telemundo and HBO Latin America, returned to private practice joining Bilzin Sumberg in Miami. In Central America, Guatemala´s Mayora & Mayora opened its first international office in Honduras, a move market observers view as part of the ongoing trend of legal services going regional.
