Cariola boosts its Energy practice with new partner

Chile-based Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos has announced the appointment of Cristina Olavarría (pictured) as a new partner in charge of its Energy practice, strengthening the area at a key moment for the country’s energy transition.

Olavarría holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a diploma in Tax Analysis and Planning from the same institution, as well as diplomas in Capital Markets and in Natural Resources Project Development from the University of Chile. She has a solid track record in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and corporate legal management, specializing in the energy sector and infrastructure projects.

Most recently, Cristina Olavarría served as Legal Manager at Consorcio Eólico, leading strategic legal advisory work on regulatory, contractual, and compliance matters for wind energy, green hydrogen, and other energy transition projects in Chile. But years before, between 2008 and 2011, Olavarría worked in the mining practice at the firm. This marks a milestone as the first woman to lead the Energy practice in the firm’s history.
