This week, Hughes Hubbard added a new co-chair to its Latin America practice group in Miami. The firm announced that Ruben Diaz joined from Grupo Pellas, a Central American financial and commercial group, where he was general counsel.

In Chile, separate teams at Carey advised the lenders and the borrower in a $100 million loan to Masisa, the Chilean wood product company. In Argentina, Marval acted for the lenders in the refinancing of the debt of energy company Medanito. and in Peru, Miranda and Amado acted as deal counsel on Financiera OH!´s $8.8 million placement.

Elsewhere, Mayer Brown announced the expansion of its Mexico City office, adding new lawyers with energy, infrastructure and projects expertise.

In Costa Rica, BLP and Pacheco Coto acted for the buyer and seller respectively in one of the country´s largest real estate transactions so far this year; the sale of the Peninsula Papagayo project: a 1,400-acre luxury master development in the North Pacific Coast of the country.

Davis Polk advised the joint book-running managers in connection with a $700 million SEC-registered offering by Bunge Limited Finance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bunge.
