Simpson Thacher advises Cinemex on financing Florida acquisition

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett acted for Cinemex, the Mexican cinema group, on the financing for the acquisition of the assets of Cobb Theaters, in Florida.

Grupo Cinemex is considered the sixth-largest movie theater in the world. The company is headquartered in Mexico City and operates  295 theaters throughout Mexico and the US, 

Partner Jaime Mercado led the Simpson Thacher team advising Cinemex for the financing. 

For the acquisition, the Cinemex retained Dechert while Cobb theaters instructed Sirote & Permutt, according to news reports.
