Guerrero Olivos assists CLIN with 2 start-up investments
Chilean law firm Guerrero Olivos has assisted private equity fund CLIN on investments in two local software start-ups.
CLIN is managed by Fundación Chile and aims to invest in between 20 and 25 local start-ups that use innovative technology in sustainability projects in sectors such as energy, water and smart cities.
The first of the two investments is in Instacrops, a software company formerly known as Agronet that has developed a device and an app (pictured) allowing farmers to monitor their crops by measuring climatic parameters. The second is in Simplit, a start-up that has developed a digital e-commerce platform.
The investments were made through convertible notes and were subject to approval by the Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO), which grants financing to certain investments in specific areas that are considered to be drivers of local development.
Guerrero Olivos negotiated and structured the investment according to CORFO’s rules. The total investment is valued at $600,000.
The law firm’s counsel was led by leading partner Pedro Lyon, senior associate Josefina Yávar and associate Francisca Martínez.
