PPU counsels Export Development Canada on $250m Minera Escondida loan
Chilean law firm Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero & Uria (PPU) has acted as local counsel to Export Development Canada (EDC) as the lender in connection with a $250 million loan agreement granted to Minera Escondida Limitada.
Minera Escondida is a Chilean subsidiary of BHP Billiton engaged in the prospection, extraction, processing and commercialisation of copper, silver and gold.
PPU partner Marcelo Armas and associate Vicente Vergara were engaged as counsel to EDC, Canada’s export credit agency.
Local law firm Urenda Rencoret Orrego & Dörr and Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York acted as counsel to Minera Escondida, while Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman acted as counsel to EDC in New York.
