BLP Guatemala appoints special counsel

As part of its regional growth strategy and responding to the needs of the local market, law firm BLP has appointed Cynthia Sequeira (pictured) as special counsel at its Guatemala office, where she will practice in business law, labour and employment, and intellectual property.

“Sequeira is a very talented lawyer, and her experience and knowledge of the Guatemalan legal market will strengthen BLP, providing a comprehensive and innovative approach to the legal advice we provide to our clients,” partner Luis F. Ruiz said.

Sequeira holds a master’s degree in corporate law and international law from the Rafael Landívar University of Guatemala/Universidad Pontificia de Comillas Madrid, and won the Decanatura prize and a prize for the best thesis from the Rafael Landívar law school.

In her more than 20 years’ experience, she has provided advice to national and foreign companies on labour issues, franchises, due diligence, and mergers and acquisitions, and also is active in practicing education law, advising the most prestigious educational institutions in Guatemala, the firm said.

BLP has offices in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, as well as a representative office in Spain.
