Buenavista Renewables México engages Holland & Knight for PPA
Holland & Knight has represented Buenavista Renewables México, a subsidiary of Texas-based energy developer Buenavista Renewables (BVR), and ESCO Comercializadora Energética, a qualified supplier from Mexicali, Baja California, regarding a long-term power-purchase agreement (PPA) with Zodiac Aerospace Equipo de México, an affiliate of France’s Safran Group.
The electricity to be delivered under the agreement will be generated by roughly 13 MW of the Los Santos Solar II facility, which Buenavista is developing in Ahumada, in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua, and which will be located contiguous to the company’s already operational Los Santos Solar I project (pictured).
Under the agreement, Zodiac Aerospace, as off-taker, will be supplied 100 per cent of its electricity, clean energy certificates, and capacity from ESCO, as a qualified supplier under the new Mexican market rules.
Approximately 70 per cent of the energy will come from the Los Santos II facility.
In total, Zodiac Aerospace has committed to purchase more than 30,000 MWh of electricity annually from the facility for use in its Chihuahua factories.
The representation of BVR was led by Holland & Knight’s Mexico City Partners Alejandro Landa and Carlos Ochoa, and associates Alberto Esenaro and Aldo González.
