Pinheiro Neto assists Trident Energy in Brazil oilfield bid
Law firm Pinheiro Neto is assisting Trident Energy in the bidding and negotiation process for acquisition of a 100 per cent participation in 10 oil and gas fields in Brazil, the London-based company’s first incursion into the country.
The London-based company is bidding for the fields, located in the Enchova and PampocClusters, that were originally acquired in Round Zero as part of state oil company Petrobras’ divestment program, and which have a combined value of $851 million. After two rounds of bids, Trident Energy and Petrobras signed the sale and purchase agreement on July 24, 2019.
Herbert Smith Freehills and Pinheiro Neto also acted for Trident Energy on the negotiation of the financing arrangements required for the aquisition. The deal marks Trident Energy’s first investment in Brazil, a company focused on the acquisition, operation and optmization of international mid-life assets, especially in Africa and Latin America.
The Pinheiro Neto team was led by partner Franscisco Werneck de Albuquerque Maranhão (pictured), and also featured senior associates Raphael Moraes Paciello, André da Costa Santa Ritta, Felipe Bernardelli, Anna Carolina Guimarães, Rodrigo Tostes and Daniel Rebello.
