Demarest advises Tropicália on debentures issuance

Brazilian law firm Demarest has advised Tropicália, the concessionaire for the construction and operation of a power transmission line in the state of Bahia, on the structuring and negotiation for the issuance of 407 million reais ($107.4 million) in debentures.

Paloma Valeria Martins Lima of DemarestThe amount obtained was used to prepay an existing loan Tropicalia contracted with Banco do Nordeste do Brasil, and to finance the construction of the power transmission line.

The transaction also involved the contracting of letters of guarantee from Banco Santander (Brazil) and Banco Sumitomo Mitsui Brasileiro.
