Cleary Gottlieb represents Mexico in $6bn bond offering

Cleary Gottlieb has represented the Mexican government in a $6 billion offering of three new benchmark bonds.

Ciudad de MexicoThe bonds have terms of five, 12 and 31 years and demand for the issuance hit historically high levels, the law firm said, and which demonstrates international investors’ continued confidence in the country.

The proceeds from the offering of $1 billion 3.9 per cent notes due 2025, $2.5 billion 4.75 per cent notes due 2032, and $2.5 billion 5 per cent notes due 2051 will be applied to general purposes of the government, including the refinancing, repurchase, or retirement of its domestic and external indebtedness, the firm said.

Citigroup Global Markets, Goldman Sachs & Co, JP Morgan Securities and Santander Investment Securities acted as underwriters for the offering.
