ECIJA promotes two partners in Puerto Rico

ECIJA SBGB, the San Juan, Puerto Rico-based law firm and part of Spanish law firm ECIJA’s global network, has announced the promotion of two of its lawyers to partner, Anfranz N. Vázquez Bragan and Alberto J.E. Añeses Negrón, strengthening the areas of corporate law, tax law, labour and employment, entertainment, sports and intellectual property.

Anfranz N. Vázquez BraganECIJA opened in Puerto Rico in 2019 following its fusion with local firm Sanabria Bauermeister García & Berio (SBGB).

Anfranz N. Vázquez Bragan (pictured, left) is part of the team that founded ECIJA SBGB in Puerto Rico and oversees the practice of sports and entertainment law of the firm, in addition to being part of the labour and employment and intellectual property divisions.

Anfranz holds an LLM from Columbia Law School, where she graduated as a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law and holds a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Affairs, magna cum laude, from the University of Virginia. In addition, she completed the UVA’s McIntire Business Institute Program Certification.

While a law student, she participated in an internship at the United Nations International Labour Organization in Geneva. In addition, she worked as a law clerk at a law firm in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Anfranz has a publication on the Law Review of the University of Puerto Rico, in its edition on Labor and Employment Law in 2017.

During 2016, she represented Puerto Rico in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court competition in Washington, DC. Anfranz is also a notary public and is admitted to the practice of law before the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico.

For his part, Añeses Negrón joined ECIJA SGBG in 2019 as part of the corporate and 32tax law division. His main practice focuses on the area of corporations, international taxes, the Puerto Rico Tax Incentives Act, sales and Uue taxes, and municipal and property taxes. In addition, he specialises in local and federal taxation, intellectual property and bankruptcy law.

Añeses Negrón collaborates in the area of litigation in civil and commercial matters. He has filed cases with the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico.
