Thompson & Knight grows its Mexico tax team

Thompson & Knight has announced the incorporation of Miguel Ángel Rosas Ortiz as an associate in the tax practice of its Mexico City office.

Mexico City“As we continue to grow our tax practice, Miguel’s experience in both national and international transactions will prove to be an asset to the team in both the US and in Mexico,” Todd D. Keator, Thompson & Knight’s tax practice leader, said.

“Cross-border transactions has been a focus for the firm, and his understanding of the various issues facing the industry will be a tremendous asset to our clients.”

Rosas focuses his practice on domestic, international, and cross-border tax advisory, planning, and strategy while representing clients before local and federal tax authorities with regard to tax assessments, audits, administrative appeals, settlements, and mutual agreement procedures.

Rosas is also experienced in negotiating between the tax authority and taxpayers before PRODECON, the Mexican taxpayers’ ombudsman.

Rosas received his Bachelor of Law from the Universidad Panamericana in 2017 and then completed the Essentials of US International Tax Law Program in 2018 at New York University and the Universidad Panamericana.

He is fluent in both English and Spanish and is licenced to practice in Mexico.

Prior to joining the firm, Rosas was a senior lawyer at Deloitte México and a law clerk at Chevez, Ruíz, Zamarripa y Cia, and Müggenburg, Gorches y Peñalosa.
