MBCR and Ley en Movimiento merge their Entertainment Law practice

MBCR and Ley en Movimiento have announced the merger of their Media, Entertainment and Intellectual Property Law practice

 

MBCR (formerly Márquez Barrera Castañeda & Ramírez) and Ley en Movimiento announced the merger of their Media, Entertainment and Intellectual Property Law practice as of this month. Due to the notable synergies and seeking to enhance this area of work further, the firm linked as a partner to Patricia Renjifo (pictured), who will subsequently lead this practice area together with the team of lawyers of the two firms. With this merger, MBCR and Ley en Movimiento add more than one hundred clients in the entertainment industry, including important Colombian and foreign film and television production companies.

Before opening her firm, Renjifo worked as a lawyer at the Ministry of Finance, where she participated in the negotiations of the FTA with Chile, Northern Triangle; at the Galarza Restrepo Firm and as a lawyer at the General Secretariat in Almagrario. Renjifo is a lawyer from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and has a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property from the Universidad Externado de Colombia. She has more than 14 years of professional experience in legal advice to companies in the Entertainment industry. She has advised more than 50 national and international audiovisual projects, has extensive knowledge in the negotiation and drafting of contracts for the audiovisual, music and video game sector, legal representation in litigation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. Founder of the firm Ley en Movimiento in 2011, she is an international lecturer and member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, MCIArb, based in London.
