Stephen Hood & Partners is the first foreign boutique law firm in Brazil not to be linked to an international law firm abroad. It proposes to offer differentiated services in the Brazilian and Latin American markets.

Hood started the venture after a successful track record of opening and leading branches of foreign offices in various parts of the world.

The firm’s focus is on cross-border transactions in Brazil and Latin America, including syndicated loans, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and restructurings.

Stephen Hood and his co-founding partner, Rebecca Roman, have identified a demand in the local market for an accessible, focused and direct service from the partners, as an alternative to the large international firms currently active in the country, which carry the high cost of structures in New York and London.

Rebecca Roman was Stephen Hood’s colleague when they worked together for seven years at Davis Polk.

A partner at Clifford Chance for more than 25 years, Hood was responsible for opening the Hong Kong and São Paulo offices, as well as for opening the capital markets department in London and managing partner of the New York office. He was a partner at the foreign law firm Davis Polk in São Paulo for 9 years, where he led the project finance team for Latin America.
