Jaime Carey becomes secretary general of the International Bar Association

Jaime Carey was appointed secretary general of the International Bar Association, a position he will share alongside Claudio Visco for the 2021-20221 biennium

 

Jaime Carey (pictured), managing partner of the Chilean law firm Carey, has been appointed as Secretary of the International Bar Association for the 2021-2022 biennium, a position he will govern dually with Claudio Visco, managing partner of the Italian law firm Macchi di Cellere Gangemi.

The IBA was established in 1947 and today has more than 80,000 members, including lawyers, law firms and law societies from 170 countries.

Carey has been a member of the IBA for several years, where he held the positions of chair of the Legal Practice Division (2017-2018); member of the Management Board; deputy director and member of the Council of the Legal Practice Division; chair of the Latin American Regional Forum; co-chair of the Corporate and M&A Section; member of the Board of the Law Firm Management Committee; member of the International Tax Group.
