Pinheiro Guimarães strengthens its Litigation and Strategic Tax Practice

Pinheiro Guimarães Advogados has strengthened its Litigation and Strategic Tax team, headed by partner Rafael Vianello

Pinheiro Guimarães Advogados has announced the reinforcement of its Tax Litigation and Strategy team, led by Rafael Vianello (pictured left), Tax Law partner and head of the São Paulo practice area. The lawyers Estevan Leal (pictured top centre), Natalice Araújo (pictured top right), Maria Gabriela Paes (pictured bottom centre) and Thiago Paranhos Neves (pictured bottom right) have joined the team.

Rafael Vianello previously held the positions of Tax Partner at PwC in Brazil, Tax Partner at PwC in New York, Tax Partner and Tax Structuring Leader for M&A at PwC in Brazil, and Global Tax Director for the Americas at Inbev in Belgium. He has a law degree from Universidade Paulista, and an LLM in Corporate Law from Instituto de Ensino e Pesquisa – Insper.

Estevan Leal joined the team after being the head of tax consulting at one of the largest Tax Practices in Brazil and working as International Tax Manager at PwC, New York, and as Tax Manager at PwC in Brazil, where he gained extensive experience in tax consulting for local companies and cross-border transactions. He has a degree in Law from Faculdade de Direito de São Bernardo do Campo and in Accounting from Pontifícia Universidade Católica. He has a specialization in US Taxation from the University of Southern California and is currently pursuing an MBA in Tax Administration at the University of São Paulo.

Natalice Araujo worked at prestigious tax practices in Brazil and at PwC and has acquired extensive experience in Tax Advisory and tax planning. She holds a magna cum laude degree in Law from Universidade Federal do Ceará (LL.B) and is currently pursuing an MBA degree in Tax Administration at the University of São Paulo.

Maria Gabriela Paes has more than seven years of experience, focusing in Complex and Strategic Tax Litigation, both in administrative and judicial proceedings. Before joining Pinheiro Guimarães, she worked as an associate at one of the largest law firms in the country and also as a tax consultant at Ernst & Young. She holds a degree from Faculdade Marista do Recife (LL. B.) and an LLM in Tax Law from Instituto de Ensino e Pesquisa – INSPER.

Thiago Paranhos Neves has more than ten years of experience in Tax Law and is specialized in strategic litigation cases, both in administrative and judicial proceedings, and joins Pinheiro Guimarães as coordinator of the Tax Litigation practice. Thiago holds a degree from Mackenzie Presbyterian University (LL. B.) and has a post-graduate degree in Tax Law from the Brazilian Institute of Tax Studies (IBET). Thiago is also an effective member of the Special Committee on Tax Law of the Brazilian Bar Association, São Paulo Section, and of the alumni Tax Law Commission at Mackenzie.
