Veirano enhances Environment practice with new partner
Veirano Advogados has a new partner Maria Christina Motta Gueorguiev who will work from São Paulo, leading the Firm’s Environment practice and joining other partners in advancing ESG-related services
Environmental and sustainability lawyer Maria Christina Motta Gueorguiev (pictured) is the newest partner of Veirano Advogados. On top of a successful career spanning more than 20 years, Maria Christina will lead the Firm’s Environment practice and join other partners in advancing ESG-related services.
Maria Christina regularly assists a host of entities – companies, associations, financial institutions, multilateral agencies, governments and non-governmental organizations – in legal matters encompassing environmental, sustainability and climate change. Her practice covers a broad range of works, including consulting, litigation and relationship/negotiation with environmental authorities on many fronts: industry, forestry, real estate, energy (solar, wind, thermal, hydro and biomass), O&G, sanitation, mining, agribusiness and financial services, among others. Maria Christina’s vast experience also includes sustainable finance, ESG criteria, infrastructure projects (ports, highways, waterways and airports), crisis management and indigenous peoples.
A Chevening Scholar, Maria Christina holds an LL.M. from University College London and a specialization certificate in Environmental Management from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). She obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree at Universidade de São Paulo (USP) and recently concluded a course on Sustainable Finance with a focus on ESG at the University of Cambridge.
Maria Christina Motta Gueorguiev will work from the São Paulo office of Veirano Advogados, heading a team of over ten professionals dedicated to environmental law and interacting closely with other practice areas.
