Baptista Luz Advogados brings market reference to its Fintech team

Milene Fachini Jacob (pictured) has over 10 years of experience in the market, bringing an extensive background in Banking, Payments, Technology and Innovation. She worked as secondee for Citibank Bank and in the legal departments of Stone (Arpex Capital), Stelo (Fintech of Banco do Brasil, Bradesco and Cielo) and Elo Group, also working at Banco Modal, where she was responsible for the legal department of Banco Digital Modalmais. Before joining B/Luz, she was the Legal Coordinator of Omni CFI S.A., responsible for the legal area of means of payment.

Milene is recognized for her expertise in structuring and adjusting payment products and services. In the last few years, she has worked in the segment’s Self-Regulatory Bodies, as a member of the Working Groups with BACEN on the projects for structuring the Instant Payment System (PIX), Open Banking, and updating the regulatory environment related to the Brazilian Payment System (SPB).

Milene becomes co-head of B/Luz’s Fintech team together with Fabiano de Melo Ferreira, recently promoted to Partner of the area. Fabiano worked for 13 years in the São Paulo Stock Exchange and has been working for 12 years in law firms, always with subjects related to regulation of the financial and capital markets, 6 of them in B/Luz. He has outstanding expertise in regulatory and self-regulation consulting, administrative proceedings at CVM and BCB, structured operations and corporate advisory services to fintechs.

In addition to Milene and Fabiano, the area already had a partner, Patricia Nakahara, who will now be responsible for the international development of the bank’s business, with emphasis on the opening of a new office in Shanghai in 2022.

Under the leadership of Milene and Fabiano, the Fintech team of the firm now has 10 lawyers and is definitely among the leading firms in the segment in Brazil, with a spectrum of expertise ranging from initial business design to obtaining the licenses required by regulation.
