PPU names four new partners

Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría has appointed a new partner in its Peru office, two in Chile and one in Colombia

 Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría has named four new partners to its various offices, Lidia Vilchez Garcés as part of the Labour team in Peru, both Felipe Arévalo Cordero as Environmental partner and Sergio Montes as Labour partner in Chile, and Héctor Ramírez Pardo joining the Tax and International Trade team in Colombia.

Formerly an associate at Ferrero Abogados, Lidia Vilchez (pictured top left) joined the firm as a senior associate in 2017. She holds a law degree from the Universidad Católica del Perú and a master’s degree from the same university, as well as a specialisation in Latin American Labour Relations from the Universidad de La Mancha. She teaches at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and is a member of the Lima Bar Association. Her practice focuses on the design and execution of comprehensive strategies, both individual and collective.

Felipe Arévalo (pictured top right), lawyer at the Universidad Católica de Chile, with a Diploma in Natural Resources and Energy Law. Professor at Universidad del Desarrollo and Universidad Finis Terrae, he is a member of the Environment and Sustainable Development group, as well as of the Chilean Administrative Law Association and the Chilean Bar Association. His professional practice focuses on advising on all types of environmental, regulatory and judicial matters related to investment projects. He specialises in environmental litigation, both at the administrative level (environmental sanctioning procedures) and at the judicial level (environmental damage claims).

For his part, Sergio Montes (pictured bottom left), formerly a lawyer at Carey y Cia, founding partner of Eyzaguirre Burlé & Montes (EBMO), and in-house counsel at Territoria, joined PPU in 2019. Lawyer by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and member of the Chilean Bar Association, he specialises in Labour Law, with an outstanding participation in collective bargaining processes and complex and high value labour lawsuits, including litigation for alleged violations of fundamental rights, work accidents, anti-union practices and dismissals of senior executives.

Finally, Héctor Ramírez (pictured bottom right) is a member of the Colombian Institute of Tax Law and the International Fiscal Association. He holds a law degree from the Universidad del Rosario, other studies include a specialisation in Tax Law from the Universidad Externado, as well as a Masters in Law and Administrative Law from Berkeley School of Law and the Universidad del Rosario respectively. His practice focuses on tax structuring and implementation of M&A transactions of companies, assets and projects, involving parties from different jurisdictions and economic sectors. In addition, he has experience in M&A and issuances both in Colombia and New York. He has successfully led the structuring and implementation of estate planning for high-net-worth families, both in tax, corporate and contractual matters.

With these appointments, PPU now has 62 partners at regional level.
