BMAJ appoints 3 new partners and a senior associate
Luis Alberto Cruchaga Ossa, Carla Dittus Cabrera and Jorge Valenzuela Baldwin join as partners, while Juan Pablo Labbé Arocca joins as senior associate
Bofill Mir & Alvarez Jana strengthens its Labour Law, Dispute Resolution and Tax Law areas with the appointment of three new partners: Luis Alberto Cruchaga Ossa, Carla Dittus Cabrera and Jorge Valenzuela Baldwin; as well as the Litigation and Arbitration team thanks to its new senior associate, Juan Pablo Labbé Arocca.

Luis Alberto Cruchaga Ossa (pictured top left) joined the firm’s labour law practice in 2011. He advises clients on labour matters regarding hiring, dismissals and immigration; as well as on corporate labour matters including regulatory compliance. Luis Alberto also represents clients in labour relations with trade unions and in dispute resolution before judicial bodies. He is a lawyer from Universidad de Los Andes (2007) and holds an LL.M. from Università di Bologna in Italy (2014). He has held the position of Visiting Professor in the Master in Labour Law at the Universidad de los Andes in Chile since 2018.
Carla Dittus Cabrera (pictured top right) has been an associate in BMAJ’s Dispute Resolution practice since 2013. Her practice focuses on representing clients in disputes before the ordinary courts of justice, as well as before the Santiago Arbitration and Mediation Centre, the International Chamber of Commerce, and ad-hoc arbitral tribunals, both nationally and internationally. She has experience in disputes related to the energy industry, mining and natural resources, construction and infrastructure, advertising, marketing and shareholder disputes, among others. With Carla’s appointment, the Dispute Resolution team reaches gender parity at partner level with two male and two female partners. Carla is a lawyer from the University of Chile (2011) and obtained an LL.M. in International Law and International Relations with highest distinction from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain (2017). Among her multiple memberships in organisations related to dispute resolution, Carla is a member of the international network of arbitrators “Rising Arbitrators Initiative”, member of the Board of Experts of the Chilean Bar Association and appointed Young Arbitrator of the Arbitration and Mediation Centre of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CAM Santiago).
Jorge Valenzuela Baldwin (pictured bottom left) joined BMAJ’s tax practice in 2011. He advises clients on matters ranging from tax structuring and M&A transactions, to representation in litigation and ongoing advice on tax regulatory issues. He also has extensive knowledge of the tax regulations applicable in Canada, Mexico and Peru. He holds a law degree from Universidad de los Andes (2006) and a Master in Tax Planning and Management from Universidad de Santiago (2009). He is also a member of the “International Fiscal Association”, an association dedicated to the study and dissemination of tax matters.
Juan Pablo Labbé Arocca (pictured bottom right) is a lawyer from Universidad de Los Andes (2013) and LL.M. from Harvard Law School, USA (2019). He has extensive experience in international arbitration, having authored and co-authored numerous publications on the subject, and has international experience at the international arbitration firm, Three Crowns LLP in London (2019-2020). In his role as a Senior Associate in BMAJ’s Litigation and Arbitration practice, his practice focuses on domestic and international commercial and investment arbitrations. He has participated in ad-hoc and institutional arbitrations, governed by ICC, ICSID and CAM Santiago rules. He has advised clients in disputes involving infrastructure projects, energy, mining, corporate disputes, securities market and intellectual property, among others.
The appointment of the three new partners brings the total number of BMAJ partners to fourteen.
