PAGBAM assists in acquisition of Black Bamboo in favour of Lequio

Pérez Alati Grondona Benites & Arntsen has assisted Abax Global Capital (Abax), a Hong Kong-based private equity fund, in the sale of 100% of the shares of Black Bamboo Enterprises (Black Bamboo) to the Lequio Group. This transaction was closed on 28 May.

Abax acquired Black Bamboo in 2016, and proceeded to put its assets to value by making significant investments in infrastructure expansion, processes and organisation, bringing its slaughterhouse to a slaughter capacity of 650 animals per day, with the possibility of expanding to 950 animals per day.

Black Bamboo is a company that owns an important slaughterhouse located in Hughes, Province of Santa Fe, Argentina. It has a long history in the Argentinean meat industry since 1968, located in the core region with recognised livestock farming skills. It has around 600 direct employees and more than 120 indirect employees; approximately 50% of the families living in Hughes depend directly on Black Bamboo.
