Trench Rossi Watanabe launches MOVE Generations Affinity Group
Trench Rossi Watanabe has announced the launch of the MOVE Generations Affinity Group, which has come to focus on what unites different age groups and help combat age-related prejudices. This new group joins other existing groups in the office dedicated to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion, including LGBTQIA+, Ethnic-Racial, Gender Equity, Religions and People with Disabilities.
The main objective of MOVE Gerações is to combat ageism, promote debate and collaboration between different generations, and raise awareness among the community and clients about the importance of employability for more mature people. With the Social Security Reform resulting in ever later retirements, the need for employment and planning for older people has become crucial. MOVE Gerações therefore encourages this debate within companies as a way of creating a positive impact on society.
“We want to understand how the different generations work together, how they can learn and complement each other, and how this can contribute to the growth of our business and to the creation of a more inclusive society, in every sense,” says Mariana Vito (pictured), partner and leader of the MOVE Gerações group.
MOVE Gerações’ first action, linked to the firm’s 65th anniversary, is the Trench Experience Gerações program, a seasonal internship aimed at more experienced students who have started university life at a more mature stage. The program took place last July and attracted almost 400 applicants. With an average age of 41, the successful participants have a wealth of personal and professional experience. The youngest of the trainees is 20 and the oldest 57, exemplifying the generational diversity that the program seeks to integrate. This action aims to provide learning opportunities for both the trainees and the firm’s employees, encouraging the exchange of knowledge and perspectives between different age groups.
“This initiative not only combats age prejudice, but also encourages a more collaborative working environment that expands the perception of unconscious biases. By bringing different generations together, we promote an exchange of experiences and knowledge that strengthens our team and fosters innovation,” says Mariana Vito.
