O’Farrell adds new partner
Estudio O’Farrell has announced the addition of Jorge Luis Ariza (pictured) as a new partner to the firm, who joins to lead the new Infrastructure practice area with a primary focus on investments in the energy and natural resources sector, among other activities related to project development.
His practice, together with the firm’s team of professionals, will aim to work closely with our domestic clients and international investors in all stages of investment projects, including risk management, negotiation and administration of relevant contracts and the resolution of construction disputes.
Jorge has more than 25 years of experience in the infrastructure sector, having participated in international mega investment projects for the construction and refurbishment of all types of hydrocarbon, mining, renewable energy and industrial facilities collaborating with renowned companies such as Techint, Reficar/Ecopetrol, Foster Wheeler, Wood, Ambatovy/Sumitomo and Pan American Energy, among others.
His professional background includes the negotiation and administration of EPC and EPCM contracts in different jurisdictions, using international models such as FIDIC Silver Book and Red Book, both from the perspective of the owner and contractors, comprehensively addressing the challenges of the industry, including environmental, social, land management and permitting aspects.
In addition, he has been part of teams in complex claims negotiations and arbitrations under ICC and Buenos Aires Stock Exchange rules, working with international firms such as White & Case and King & Spalding.
Jorge is a lawyer graduated from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, and has obtained a Master’s degree from the Interdisciplinary Master in Energy and the Specialisation in Legal-Economic Structure of Energy Regulation both at the Centro de Estudios de la Actividad Regulatoria Energética (CEARE) of the Universidad de Buenos Aires.
