Azevedo Sette announces new partners in the labor and tax areas

Azevedo Sette Advogados has announced that lawyers Alexandre Pessoa (pictured left) and Paulo Penteado (pictured right), professionals with wide market recognition and considered references in their respective areas of practice, Labor and Tax, have joined the São Paulo office as partners.

Alexandre joins the firm to add to the labor practice, with his experience of more than 25 years, managing corporate labor litigation, with excellent results for clients. He has a law degree from PUC-SP, with a specialization in Labour Law from the same institution. In Brazil, he contributes to Global Edge, Squire Patton Boggs LLP’s (UK) platform for professionals in the areas of human resources, legal departments and compliance, and was a Professor of Legal Ethics & Compliance. At Azevedo Sette, Alexandre will work closely with partner Juliana Petrella Hansen and the other 17 partners in the São Paulo office.

Paulo Penteado is a lawyer who has been working in the tax area for over 20 years, focusing mainly on tax consultancy and tax planning for mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, structuring inbound (foreign investments in Brazil) and outbound (Brazilian investments abroad) transactions, corporate reorganizations, international taxation and trade, due diligence, risk assessment and tax contingencies, structuring and participation in tax committees, estate and succession planning and strategic tax litigation. His expertise in advising fintechs, funds and the finance sector, technology and technology transactions, life sciences, infrastructure, TMT and agribusiness is outstanding.

He has extensive experience advising foreign clients with investments, activities or interests in Brazil and is also admitted to the New York Bar (USA). He teaches IT Legislation at FATEC Barueri.

The partner graduated in Law from USP and in Business Administration from FGV/SP. He has an MBA in Finance and Controllership from USP. He also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from Harvard Law School (USA).

New partners, lawyers and consultant

In January of this year, the following professionals had already joined the firm: Piero Sellan, for the TMT – Technology, Media and Telecommunications and Privacy and Data Protection teams; Rodrigo Tambuque Rodrigues, for Real Estate Litigation; and Sergio Mirisola Soda, a partner who returned to Azevedo Sette to lead our Civil Litigation, Real Estate and Middle Market portfolios. In addition to consultant Cintia Robin, a specialist in complex tax issues and the development of international succession and estate planning strategies, and 12 other new lawyers with excellent experience and training in their areas.
