Cescon Barrieu advise on the sale of Porto Pecém to Diamante

Cescon Barrieu and others advised on the sale of 100% of Porto do Pecém, by EDP, XP and Mercúrio, to Diamante.

Porto do Pecém is a coal thermal plant located in the Pecém Port, in Ceará, and has installed capacity of 720MW, with power purchase agreements in effect until July 2027.

As a result of the sale of Porto Pecém’s controlling interest by EDP to XP and Mercúrio in 2023, our team had to work in an integrated and innovative manner to reconcile the surviving obligations from the 2023 transaction with the new obligations assumed.

In addition, it was a multidisciplinary transaction involving regulatory aspects of the energy sector, which required a coordinated effort from the teams involved.

The transaction value is confidential.

Cescon Barrieu advised EDP – Energias do Brasil and relied on partners Maria Cristina Cescon (pictured left), Luciana de Castro Mares Torres (pictured right), associates Mariana Bulcão and Ana Beatriz Hess.

Pinheiro Guimarães Advogados advised XP Investmentos and Mercurio Partners, as sellers.

Miguel Neto Advogados advised buyer.
