Ráo & Lago Advogados announces new partner

Ráo & Lago has announced the arrival of Maria Paes Barreto de Araujo (pictured) as a new partner at the firm. Maria acts in defense and advises on investigations and prosecutions in all areas of criminal law.

The lawyer has a law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC) and a master’s and doctorate in Criminal Procedure Law from the University of São Paulo (USP). She is also a member of the Second Judicial Panel of the Prerogatives Council of the São Paulo branch of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB/SP).

Maria’s appointment marks her return to the firm, having worked as a lawyer at Ráo e Lago Advogados between 2013 and 2015. Her return comes shortly after defending her doctoral thesis on government hacking at USP and a period as a visiting international researcher at Columbia University in New York.
