Skadden and multiple firms advise Banco Plata on $120 Million bond issuance
Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has represented Banco Plata, Institución de Banca Múltiple, on two major financial transactions as the bank continues to expand its regional operations and funding capacity.
The first transaction involved the successful placement of USD 120 million in senior unsecured bonds, set to mature in July 2028. The issuance is expected to close on July 16, 2025, and forms part of Banco Plata’s strategy to strengthen its long-term funding structure. The bonds are aimed at institutional investors and mark a key milestone for the bank’s access to international capital markets.
In a parallel transaction, Skadden also advised Banco Plata on securing a credit facility of up to USD 100 million in aggregate principal, provided by Lumina Capital, a Brazilian investment firm specializing in strategic capital solutions across Latin America. The facility is expected to enhance the bank’s liquidity profile and support its expansion efforts in targeted markets.
The Skadden team advising on both transactions included capital markets partner Alejandro González Lazzeri (New York), counsel Alejandro Ascencio (London), law clerk Rodrigo Carmona (New York), and associate Nayla Basma (London). For the credit facility, European counsel Alexander Halms (London) led the banking law aspects of the deal.
