ECIJA expands leadership team as it solidifies Latam footprint
ECIJA reshapes its Colombia office, strengthening its leadership as the Spanish firm with one of the largest footprints in Latin America. The Colombia office will now be led by managing partner David Bedoya, supported by a new team of more than 30 legal professionals.
Since entering Colombia in 2021, ECIJA has accelerated its growth by integrating top partners and experts with comprehensive experience in all areas of business law. David Bedoya, a lawyer from Universidad de Los Andes with an LL.M. in international tax law from Leiden University, has over 25 years of expertise in tax law, corporate structuring, and consulting.
David Bedoya’s prior roles include work at Ernst & Young Colombia, Brigard & Urrutia, and Houthoff Buruma in the Netherlands. The firm’s corporate practice has also been strengthened by Nicolás Barón, former managing partner of Laserna & Barón, bringing over 23 years of experience in corporate and financial law.
In addition, ECIJA has integrated the boutique Vanegas Morales, led by privacy and data protection authorities Stella Sofía Vanegas Morales and Alejandro Londoño, both widely recognized across Colombia.
Legal technology and innovation receive a further boost with the addition of Daniel Acevedo, formerly of Ernst & Young and recipient of the FastCase50 Award for legal innovation. Acevedo specializes in legaltech, AI projects, and digital transformation, spearheading the expansion of ECIJA Tech in Latin America.
With a presence in 18 countries and over 1,400 professionals, ECIJA targets reaching €150 million in revenue by 2028. Latin America remains a key growth driver for the firm, which continues to solidify its status as a leading full-service legal provider specializing in technology and the digital economy.
On the same week, six Ecija partners in Colombia move to Veria, a boutique advisory Colombian firm focused on technology and artificial intelligence. Ecija stated that this is part of the restructuring being carried out in Colombia.
