Trench Rossi Watanabe advises NFL on hosting game in RJ

Trench Rossi Watanabe advised NFL International Licensing on the legal structure for hosting a National Football League (NFL) regular season game in Brazil, scheduled for 2026, at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

The event will be the first official NFL game at Maracanã and is part of an agreement that provides for at least three regular season games in the city of Rio de Janeiro over the next five years. The initiative is expected to generate significant economic impact, boosting sectors such as tourism, hospitality, transportation, and commerce, in addition to reinforcing the city’s image as a global hub for major sporting events.

Trench Rossi Watanabe relied on partners Anna Mello (pictured left) and Thales Stucky (pictured right); legal consultant Marcia Assis Calafate and associate Caroline Strehler.
