Erico Advogados is a new law firm specializing in strategic litigation
Erico Carvalho has launched Erico Advogados, a Brasília-based law firm dedicated to strategic litigation before the Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) and the Superior Tribunal de Justiça (STJ), with an additional focus on corporate disputes and arbitration. The move marks his departure after more than two decades as a partner at a traditional Brasília firm, where he built a track record in constitutional, regulatory, contractual and arbitral matters.
The new firm is structured around direct personal involvement in every case. “All cases, without exception, have my direct participation, from strategy to drafting,” said Carvalho. The practice covers sectors including technology, urban mobility, agribusiness, payment systems, infrastructure, fuel, media, shipping, and the automotive industry.
Carvalho emphasises that practice before the STF and STJ requires a distinct technical approach from ordinary litigation. Selecting arguments, framing the legal controversy, reading precedents and presenting the issue to the court are all decisive factors in cases of this nature. “It is necessary to know how to transform a complex dispute into a legal question that can be addressed by the court,” he noted.
Arbitration forms a second core pillar of the firm. The independent structure is designed to reduce potential conflicts of interest and expand Carvalho‘s capacity to act both as counsel and as arbitrator. A particular area of focus will be the interface between arbitration and the judiciary, encompassing support measures, annulment actions, enforcement, homologation and the defence of arbitral awards.
Erico Carvalho holds a specialisation in International Relations from the Universidade de Brasília (UnB) and an LL.M. from Columbia Law School.
