Abradep elects new general coordinator

Academia Brasileira de Direito Eleitoral e Político – Abradep (Brazilian Academy of Electoral and Political Law) has released the official results of the elections for its new General Coordinator. With 208 votes, the slate headed by lawyer and professor Sidney Sá das Neves (pictured) was elected to take over the organization for the 2025/2027 biennium. The new board takes over Abradep’s management with the mission of strengthening the democratic debate and fostering academic production in the field of Electoral and Political Law.

In addition to Sidney Neves, the elected board includes Anne Cabral (deputy general coordinator), Hanna Gonçalves (general secretary), Wederson Advíncula Siqueira (deputy general secretary) and Edson Moraes Borowski (treasurer).

The election followed the guidelines of Notice 02/2025, and its results were officially published on March 28, 2025. The Ordinary General Meeting that authorized the electoral process was held in March 2025.

The elected
Sidney Sá das Neves is a lawyer with over 22 years’ experience in Electoral Law, with a career marked by his work on major campaigns across the country, including presidential, governors’ and mayoral elections. He has already chaired the National Electoral Law Commission of the Federal Council of the OAB (2022-2024) and coordinated the National Observatory for the 2024 Municipal Elections. He holds a master’s degree in Constitutional Law (IDP/DF), specializes in Electoral Law (EMAB/BA) and Civil Procedural Law (UESC/BA). He sits on the boards of IBRADE, PLURIS and MCCE, as well as being a member of IAB, PARLA and IBAP.

Anne Cristine Silva Cabral is an electoral lawyer, teacher and lecturer. She holds a master’s degree in Political and Economic Law from Mackenzie Presbyterian University and a law degree from the Catholic University of Pernambuco. She was the legal coordinator of the State Environment Agency of the state of Pernambuco (CPRH – 2019/2020), Coordinator of the Lato Sensu Specialization in Municipal Public Law at FACHO (2018-2020). She was President of the OAB/PE Lawyers’ Assistance Fund (2022/2024), Northeast Director of CONCAD – National Coordination of CFOAB Lawyers’ Assistance Funds (2022/2024) and advisory member of the CFOAB Special Commission on Electoral Law (2022/2024).

Hanna Gonçalves is a lawyer and journalist who works extensively in electoral law.
She has a degree in Law from the Cathedral College and a specialist degree in Electoral Law and Procedure from the Damási Institute. She has a postgraduate degree in Public Law from the State University of Roraima (UERR). She was a member of the Special Commission on Electoral Law of the Federal Council of the OAB (2019-2021 and 2022/2025) and a full sectional counselor of the OAB/RR in the 2022-2024 triennium. She also has a degree in Journalism from the Federal University of Roraima, a specialization in Social Communication and experience in advisory services and new technologies.

Wederson Advíncula Siqueira is a lawyer who graduated in Law from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in 2005. He is a partner in the law firm Moura Lima e Siqueira Advogados, with solid experience in the legal field and working on issues related to Electoral Law and Public Law.

Edson Moraes Borowski. He holds a master’s degree in Political Science from UFRGS. He has a law degree from the University of Caxias do Sul (UCS) and an economics degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). He specializes in Public Management (UFSM) and Electoral Law (FMP/RS). He has also acted as an international observer in the presidential elections of Ecuador (2021), Colombia (2022) and Paraguay (2023). Member of the Instituto Gaúcho de Direito Eleitoral – IGADE. Servant of the Regional Electoral Court of Rio Grande do Sul and head of the registry office of the 169th Electoral Zone, in Caxias do Sul (RS).
