Arias counsels BAC in financing of San Patricio solar plant

Arias Law has counselled Banco de América Central (BAC) in Guatemala on the US$34 million financing for the construction and operation of the “San Patricio” solar photovoltaic plant.

The 66MWp capacity plant is scheduled to start operations in mid-2025 and represents a significant milestone in clean energy generation in Guatemala. In addition to boosting renewable energy production, it will significantly reduce CO2 emissions and diversify the country’s energy matrix, currently dominated by traditional energy sources. Once operational, the plant is expected to generate approximately 141 GWh of electricity per year.

Furthermore, besides the environmental impact, San Patricio also promises economic and social benefits. The construction and operation of the plant will generate jobs, fostering local development and improving the quality of life in nearby communities.

Arias’ team was led by partner Luis Pedro del Valle (pictured), assisted by director Cindy Arrivillaga, senior associates Florencio A. Gramajo and Francisco Zuluaga, associate Andres Marroquin, and paralegal Martín Montenegro.
