Baker McKenzie elects three new partners in Mexico



Law firm Baker McKenzie has elected three new partners in Mexico, “each of whom has made significant contributions to our firm, demonstrating a deep understanding of our clients’ businesses and industries”, according to Colin Murray, Baker McKenzie’s North America CEO.

The new Mexico-based partners are Javier Jaime-Gonzalez (pictured, left), in the litigation and government enforcement practice, in the firm’s Monterrey office, Javier Ordoñez-Namihira, a partner in the Mexico City-based tax practice, and Carlo Perez-Arizti, a partner in the corporate and securities practice, also based in the capital.



Jaime-González’s duties involve matters relating to portfolio recovery and performance or breach of agreements, as well as advising clients on risk reduction in any negotiations that they may have in their companies, according to the law firm. 

He also serves both individuals and legal entities, mainly focusing on trading companies and banking and financial institutions. 



Ordoñez-Namihira (pictured, below left), who recently worked for 12 months in Baker McKenzie’s Miami office. focuses on the legal aspects of international tax planning from direct and indirect tax perspectives, business restructurings, estate planning and wealth management. He regularly advises multinational enterprises, institutional clients from the banking and finance sector and private clients. 

He is proficient in legal interpretation and application of tax treaties, and in the analysis, design and implementation of business structures, investment and asset protection solutions from a multi-jurisdictional perspective. 

Ordóñez Namihira, Javier (Blanco)Ordoñez-Namihira is the Mexico Chair of the Firm’s Latin America Steering Committee for Wealth Management. 



Pérez-Arizti (pictured, below) worked for more than two years in Baker McKenzie’s New York City office, and has experience in general corporate counselling and in structuring, negotiating and implementing a variety of mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings and joint ventures, as well as private equity and venture capital transactions. 

He routinely represents multinational companies and private equity firms on Mexican and cross-border business and investment transactions.
