Baptista Luz promotes partner

Brazilian law firm Baptista Luz has promoted Fernando Bousso, head of the firm’s privacy and data protection area, to partner

Fernando Bousso“The idea behind bringing Fernando to the team has always been that within a couple of years he would probably become a partner of our privacy and data protection practice,” the firm’s founding partner Luis Felipe Baptista Luz said. “However, since he joined the firm, he has consistently surprised us in a positive manner. On the technical side, he is highly skilled, efficient and reliable. At the same time, he is a hard worker and natural leader who leads by example.”

“He quickly gained the respect and trust of one of the best privacy and data protection teams in the country. It soon became clear to us that he had all that was necessary to become partner after one year in the firm. We are proud to have Fernando on board and certain that he will be a key player in the next chapter of Baptista Luz’s incredible history,” he added.

Fernando (pictured) holds a master’s degree in law and technology from Queen Mary, University of London, a specialist diploma in privacy and data protection from the Institute of Technology and Society (ITS) and Data Privacy Brasil, and is certified as a privacy professional (CIPP/E) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

He is also an active member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), and leads data protection and information security projects in diverse market contexts.

Baptista Luz was one of the first firms in Brazil to set up a specialised team in data protection, and Fernando’s joining as a partner further strengthens our commitment to the topic, the firm said.

Commenting on his promotion, Fernando said, “I am very excited to continue leveraging, along with an incredible team, the privacy and data protection practice at Baptista Luz. It is a great pleasure to be able to coordinate such a skilled and tech-savvy team, capable of positively impacting businesses’ technology and innovation”.

São Paulo-based Baptista Luz was founded in 2004 and Fernando’s ascension brings the firm’s partner count to 12.
