Barra, Barros & Roxo Advogados is a new Paulista law firm focused on Private Pension Plans
The law firm Barra, Barros & Roxo Advogados, based in São Paulo, began its activities with a business focus and specialized in matters involving interests related to Private Pension and Insurance Law, with extensive experience in the areas of Labor Law and Privacy and Data Protection. This is a specific performance in highly regulated markets, not served by most of the existing law firms in the country.
The founding partners Juliano Barra (pictured left), Carlos Alberto Barros (pictured right) and Tatiana Roxo (pictured centre) have vast national and international academic experience in private pension systems and the insurance market, with a strong performance in the investment area, especially in defense of professional investors’ interests, governance and LGPD.
Juliano Barra began his career in 1999 at Machado Meyer where he worked for 11 years. He earned his doctorate in Private Law from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne with a focus on Private Pension Funds. In Paris, he was an assistant professor at the Sorbonne Law School (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne). In the French capital he was also off counsel for the Parisian law firm Valmy Avocats and consultant for the OECD on Private Pension. Less than two years ago, Juliano returned to the practice of law. He is a professor at the Law School of Mackenzie Presbyterian University and at the Post-Graduate Program in Private Pension Funds of IBMEC.
Carlos Alberto Barros has worked for the international law firm Norton Rose Fulbright in Germany and for the European Union’s regulatory body for pension funds and insurance companies, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA). In addition, he teaches post-graduate courses in Private Pension Funds in Brazil and holds an LLM in Law and Finance from Goethe University in Frankfurt Am Main. Carlos Alberto has 15 years of experience in the Investment and Governance market of Pension Funds and Insurance Companies, with a strong performance in the Investment area of institutional investors, regarding issues involving investment funds, contractual, governance, and in administrative (CVM, PREVIC and SUSEP) and judicial litigation.
Tatiana Bhering Roxo is a lawyer with 14 years of experience, divided between teaching and private practice in Labor Law. She has solid experience in Compliance and expertise in the area of Privacy and Personal Data Protection. Tatiana concluded her master’s degree in Labor Law in 2009, focusing on Privacy and Intimacy in Private Relations, having followed the evolution of data protection since the advent of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union and the General Law of Data Protection (LGPD) in the country. She is a guest professor at the Post-Graduation in Labor Law at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie and a professor at the Post-Graduation at Escola Superior da Advocacia da OAB/MG.
In the process of forming Barra, Barros & Roxo Advogados, the partners identified similarities in their strategic visions and thus united their personal interests to provide legal services in an efficient manner, with innovation, objectivity, sophistication and providing security and solidity in the client’s decision making.
