Barros & Errázuriz adds two new partners

Barros & Errázuriz has promoted Francisco Bórquez Electorat and José Luis Corvolán Pérez as partners

 

 Barros & Errázuriz has promoted senior associates Francisco Bórquez Electorat, part of the Competition & Antitrust group and José Luis Corvalán Pérez, part of the Dispute Resolution area as new partners.
With its incorporation, Barros & Errázuriz now has 26 partners and more than 100 lawyers, establishing itself as one of the most important law firms in Chile.

Francisco Bórquez (pictured left) is a partner in the Competition & Antitrust area of Barros & Errázuriz. He holds a Law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a Diploma in Competition & Antitrust from the same university and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Laws & Economics from University College London, where he studied with the support of the Chile and Chevening scholarships. He also studied the Merger Control module at the Brussels School of Competition. In 2013, Francisco worked in the Cartels Unit at the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium. Before joining Barros & Errázuriz, he worked as a lawyer in the Litigation Division of the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office. Throughout his legal career, he has focused his practice on Competition & Antitrust, both in cartel, unilateral conduct and merger investigations before the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office, as well as in contentious and non-contentious proceedings before the Court for the Defence of Free Competition.

José Luis Corvalán (pictured right) holds a law degree from the University of Chile, a Diploma in Competition and Antitrust and in Public Economic Law from the same university and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Harvard University, where he studied with the support of the Chilean Government and Fulbright scholarships. He has also worked as a professor of Civil Law at the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and is currently an instructor professor in the Department of Economic Law at the Law School of the Universidad de Chile. He has participated as a visiting professor in the Competition and Antitrust Diplomas of the Universidad de Chile, the Pontificia Universidad Católica and the Universidad Finis Terrae. He is the author of the book “Delimitation of Property Rights” (2016) and other academic and professional publications. His professional practice has focused on national and international arbitrations before ad-hoc arbitrators or under the rules of institutions such as the CAM Santiago or the ICC, as well as in civil and commercial litigation before ordinary and superior courts of justice. Since January 2021, he has been a member of the list of young arbitrators of the Arbitration and Mediation Centre (CAM).
