Barros & Errázuriz announces two new appointments

Magdalena Munita and María Luisa Marraccini join the firm’s Tax team as counsel and senior associate, respectively

Barros & Errázuriz has announced the incorporation of Magdalena Munita as counsel of the Tax group and María Luisa Marraccini as a senior associate in the same team, with the aim of further strengthening this area of specialisation.

This group – today led by partners Fernando Barros and Carola Trucco – now has 17 professionals, who focus on tax advice to companies and individuals. The increased demand for specialised tax advice has led the group to continue to grow in view of the upcoming tax reform with the arrival of the new government administration.

Cristián Barros, managing partner of Barros & Errázuriz, commented: “We are very pleased with the arrival of both professionals, who have an outstanding track record in the tax field. The incorporation of the lawyers is in line with our strategy of accompanying our clients in their multiple challenges. The Tax area will be very relevant during this 2022 and will continue to be in the coming years, so we are motivated to grow in that direction.”

The appointments of both lawyers follow the previous incorporation of Tomás Kovacevic, who was a key advisor to the Ministry of Finance for the 2020 tax reform.

Magdalena Munita Irarrázaval (pictured left) holds a Law Degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Master’s Degree in Tax Law from the Universidad de Chile. Prior to joining B&E, she worked for 11 years as a senior associate in the tax group at Philippi (now PPU).

María Luisa Marraccini Sierra (pictured right) is a lawyer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and holds a Master’s degree in Financial Management from the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. Prior to joining B&E, she worked as a Tax Policy advisor at the Ministry of Finance, senior associate of PPU’s Tax team and a Tax Consulting lawyer at Ernst & Young.
