Basham advises Grupo Carso on acquisition of 60% stake in Talos Energy

Basham Ringe y Correa has advised Grupo Carso on the approval by the Comisión Federal de Competencia Económica (COFECE) of the acquisition, by its subsidiary Zamajal, of up to 60% of the capital of Talos Energy México, an entity holding a 17.4% interest in the Zama oil field,

This transaction is worth approximately USD 124.75 million, subject to certain conditions, and was completed on 14 September.

The Zama field is considered one of the largest oil discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico, with production estimated at 180,000 barrels of oil per day. Grupo Carso, Talos Energy Inc, PEMEX and other members in the consortium could start exploitation of the Zama field in 2025.
