Basham counsels Millfoods on new plant construction
Basham Ringe y Correa has counselled Millfoods Company, a subsidiary of Milenio Capital, in the transaction for the construction of a corn processing plant in Salamanca, Guanajuato, in a joint effort with Grupo Modelo.
This $300 million operation will allow Millfoods to enter the Mexican market, create 1,000 jobs, provide immediate benefits for 20,000 Mexican farmers and more than 1 million peasants by 2024.
The plant will become the largest and most advanced in the region, mainly for beer production. One of its main attributes will be its dry production cycle, which will reduce the need for water and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable and innovative agribusiness.
The consultancy involved negotiating and drafting the transaction documents and conducting environmental and regulatory analyses.
Milenio Capital is a dynamic business consortium based in Honduras and, more recently, in Mexico through Millfoods. It aims to transform the food and beverage industries. With a focus on beer and soft drinks, it has seamlessly integrated operations across the Americas, setting new standards.
Pilar Gutierrez, Ralph Obelholzer, Ana Micheletti, Sara Ardon, Eugenio Souto acted as in-house counsels for Grupo Milenio/Millfoods.
Basham’s team consisted of partners Amílcar García (pictured left) and Pedro Said (pictured right), and associates Antón Elorriaga, Pablo Chevez, Carolina Nogal, Valeria Couttolenc, Catalina Flores and Rodrigo Ruiseñor.
