Basham expands criminal and IP practices with new partner
Mexico-based Basham, Ringe y Correa has announced the expansion of its Criminal Law and Intellectual Property practices with the addition of Mario Uribe (pictured) as a partner in its Mexico City office.
Mario Uribe is a criminal defense attorney with experience representing domestic and international clients in federal and state proceedings, advising both defendants and victims in high-profile cases.
He is known for developing litigation strategies grounded in specialized legislation in areas such as health, environmental, and intellectual property law. He also advises clients on the design and implementation of criminal compliance and anti–money laundering programs, with a focus on risk prevention and management.
Mario has led and overseen intellectual property enforcement actions, including more than 40 operations in a single year, as well as the seizure and destruction of illegal goods valued in the tens of millions of dollars. One of his key achievements has been strengthening the prosecution of intellectual property crimes in Mexico, enabling clients to obtain fair compensation for damages.
Uribe holds a Law degree and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with honors from Universidad Panamericana and is currently a doctoral candidate. He is also a Professor of Criminal Law at Universidad Panamericana, where he has taught since 2013.
Author of Criminal Law of Industrial Property (Derecho penal de la propiedad industrial) (Tirant Lo Blanch, 2022), Mario Uribe regularly participates as a speaker and moderator at national and international forums on criminal law and human rights.
Before joining Basham, Mario led the criminal law practice at an intellectual property boutique firm with offices in Mexico and Spain.
