Basham strengthens IP area with new partner

Basham Ringe y Correa has announced the addition of Mariana González (pictured) as a new partner, who comes to strengthen the firm’s Intellectual Property practice.

Mariana González studied Chemistry and Law at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), graduating with honours. She holds a Master’s degree in Senior Management from UNAM and, since 2019, she is a Certified Licensing Professional. She has focused her practice on technology protection, technical-legal analysis and patent litigation, knowledge management, activities related to technology transfer and regulatory issues.

In the area of chemistry, Mariana has professional research experience, including a stay at Ohio State University (USA), in characterisation of DNA bases with ultrafast laser spectroscopy and has been a lecturer at high school level. In addition, she previously worked as a partner at Becerril Coca & Becerril and VELAE Mexico.

She also actively participates in various associations such as the Patent Committee of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AMPPI), is secretary of the Board of the Mexican chapter of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), Latin American representative in the Women in IP Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), and Mexican representative in the Biotechnology and Commercialisation of Intellectual Property Committees of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), among others.

With this addition, Mariana González joins the current 34 partners of Basham.
