BKM advises Grupo Luksic on new strategic alliance in Paraguay

BKM Berkemeyer has advised the Grupo Luksic on the incorporation of Banco Sudameris as a shareholder of Enex Paraguay, becoming a new strategic partner of the group in Paraguay.

This transaction follows the acquisition of Bebidas del Paraguay, Distribuidora del Paraguay and Enex Paraguay by Sudameris and Compañía de Cervecerías Unidas (CCU).

The deal was finalised on 16 March, with advice from foreign lawyers and in strict compliance with the guidelines imposed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), part of the US Treasury Department.

The advice involved the drafting and review of all contracts and agreements, corporate matters, negotiations with the new strategic partner and other related issues to ensure an optimal transition and provide support to the local market.

Grupo Luksic has a presence in Paraguay through Enex Investments Paraguay, a company controlled by Invexans, Enex’s parent company and part of the group.

BKM Berkemeyer’s team was led by managing partner Hugo T. Berkemeyer (pictured left) and partner Manuel Arias (pictured right), with support from senior associates Andres Nasser and Alvaro Rojas.
