BLP opens office in Guatemala

Central American law firm BLP announced the opening of an office in Guatemala adding a trio of partners from a local law firm.

Partners María Inés Arenales, Luis F. Ruiz and Rodolfo Salazar joined BLP from Arenales & Skinner Klee, a Guatemala law firm which is also part of LatamLex, a Central American legal outfit.

BLP, which hails from Costa Rica, now spans all five Central American countries and is home to 120 lawyers in 9 offices. The Guatemala office will have a team of 13 lawyers.

“BLP offers us a modern platform which will allow us to render more and better service to our clients.” indicated Luis F. Ruiz, who specializes in corporate/M&A, and IP.

Ronald Lachner, a partner based in Costa Rica who has led the regionalisation efforts, commented “The Guatemalan market has been one of the most important and complex in the area. We spent years searching for partners with the right fit, who share our way of thinking and the DNA of our culture. We did not want to give a false move and today I am totally convinced that we found in María Inés, Luis and Rodolfo, the BLP material we longed for. I can say with much satisfaction: Mission Accomplished.”
