Barbosa, Müssnich Aragão Advogados announced five new partners to strengthen different practice areas. They are Ana Paula Reis (pictured top left), Ellen Juste Nuñez (pictured top center), Gustavo Maia (pictured top left), Iara Santos Conrado Costa Ferreira (pictured bottom left) and Renan Frediani Torres Peres (pictured bottom right). Ana Paula Reis – Corporate and M&A, based in São Paulo and has been with BMA since 2012 Bio. She is a specialist in Corporate Law and Regulatory Affairs (including before the Securities and Exchange Commission – CVM, and the São Paulo Stock Exchange – B3 S.A. – Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão). Her practice is focused on publicly traded companies. Ana Paula has extensive experience in public offerings (public distributions and tender offer procedures) and M&A transactions involving publicly traded companies, and in assisting clients with regulatory requirements and related matters, including corporate governance, executive compensation, as well as corporate restructuring strategies and defense in administrative proceedings. Ana Paula Reis is a specialist in Capital Markets Regulation, Columbia Law School, has an extension course in Capital and Market Law, Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo – PUC-SP, specialization in Corporate Law and Capital Markets, Fundação Getulio Vargas/FGV – RJ and LL.B., Centro Universitário da Cidade / UniverCidade – RJ.
Ellen Juste Nuñez – Corporate and M&A/Due Diligence, based in Rio de Janeiro, and has been with BMA since 2001. She is a partner in BMA’s Corporate and M&A practice and represents national and international clients during due diligence processes, including in cross-border transactions, coordinating the work and teams involved in the projects. She has extensive experience in the healthcare sector, working on the acquisition of hospitals, diagnostic imaging service providers, pharmaceuticals, health insurance operators, and stock and bond offerings. Ellen Juste Nuñez has a specialization in Constitutional Civil Law – Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro – UERJ, Continuing Education Course in Corporate Law and Capital Markets at Fundação Getúlio Vargas – FGV, Bachelor of Laws, Universidade Estadual do Rio de Janeiro – UERJ.
Gustavo Maia, – Real Estate Transactions, based in São Paulo and has been with BMA since 2016. He is a partner in the Real Estate Transactions area of BMA. He provides support to domestic and international clients in the legal and commercial aspects of sophisticated real estate deals, including civil, corporate and tax law, and in land acquisitions, structuring and implementation of complex and large-scale development projects, and negotiation of association agreements between real estate market players and shareholders’ agreements related to real estate projects. He also advises on financing transactions and securitization of receivables, and issues legal opinions. Gustavo Maia has a specialization in Real Estate Law, Candido Mendes University of Rio de Janeiro, and a law degree, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro – PUC.
Iara Santos Conrado Costa Ferreira – Conflict Resolution, based in Rio de Janeiro and has been with the BMA since 2015. She is a partner in BMA’s Dispute Resolution team. She has extensive experience in dispute resolution, representing Brazilian and foreign clients in complex lawsuits and arbitrations, particularly in disputes involving business law. Iara also acts in bankruptcy and reorganization proceedings, and in succession disputes.
Iara Santos has a specialization in Negotiation, Harvard Law School, specialization in Civil Litigation, Fundação Getúlio Vargas – FGV-Rio, specialization in Mediation and Arbitration, Fundação Getúlio Vargas – FGV-Rio, and LL.B., Pontifícia Universidade Católica – PUC-Rio.
Renan Frediani Torres Peres – Conflict Resolution, based in São Paulo and has been with the BMA since 2007. He is a partner in the Dispute Resolution practice area. He acts in several Brazilian states in lawsuits and has extensive experience in domestic and international commercial arbitrations defending clients’ interests in disputes involving contractual, corporate, real estate, infrastructure issues, among others, before international institutions, such as the ICC, and all major Brazilian arbitration institutions, such as CAM/CCBC and FIESP/CIESP. Renan Peres has LL.M. – King’s College London, training in Mediation – Accredited Mediator – London School of Mediation – 218 Strand, Master in Civil Procedural Law – University of São Paulo – USP and Bachelor of Law – Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie.
