BMAJ advises private equity group on $230M acquisition of Cerro Colorado mine

Bofill Mir & Álvarez Jana acted for EMR Capital in the acquisition of Cerro Colorado mine in Chile from BHP.

EMR Capital is a specialist resources private equity manager headquartered in Australia. 

BHP Billiton is the world’s largest publicly listed miner with operations around the world, including several mining operations in Chile such as the Escondida mine (pictured) and Cerro Colorado which is located in the Tarapacá region, in the north of Chile. 

Bofill Mir & Álvarez Jana advised EMR Capital under Chilean law, with a team fronted by partners Pablo Mir and Rodrigo Saffirio. 

EMR Capital also instructed lawyers at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt in Canada, led by partner Alan Hutchison. 

BHP called upon Urenda Rencoret Orrego Dörr in Chile, with partners Sergio Orrego and Nicholas Mocarquer on lead roles.
