Bocater advises pension funds in arbitration against Cemig
Bocater Advogados advised eight pension funds in arbitration proceedings against Cemig Geração e Transmissão.
The arbitration, which was conducted at the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM-CCBC), discussed the fulfillment of put option agreements exercised by the foundations against Cemig, related to its participation in the Santo Antônio plant.
After the foundations won the arbitration, the parties involved entered into an agreement whereby Cemig would pay the foundations R$781 million to settle the dispute.
The case was conducted by Bocater’s corporate and arbitration team, formed by partners Francisco Costa e Silva, Bruno Carriello and Jaques Wurman (pictured from left to right) and associate Felipe Varela Mello.
