Bofill Mir appoints new Capital Markets Director
Bofill Mir Abogados has announced the strengthening of its Finance and Corporate practice with the incorporation of Andrea Alarcón (pictured), as the firm’s first Capital Markets Director.
According to Andrea, “the need to intensify efforts is also driven in part by the challenges raised by more thorough oversight by the CMF (Chilean Financial Market Commission) and the new regulations we expect to be issued in this regard.” This refers to upcoming developments in related-party transactions and their impact on conflict-of-interest management, as well as risk management regulations affecting a significant portion of the entities supervised by the CMF.”
The new director also highlights: “the ongoing progress of Fintech regulation remains a constant and is a part of the short-term challenges in the field. This is particularly significant because concrete announcements are imminent. For example, the Fintech Law’s Registry of Financial Services Providers will soon come fully into effect. This means that many companies will be subject to the CMF’s supervision and will need to comply with the new obligations and practices prescribed by the regulations, which come with their own set of challenges.”
Andrea Alarcón, an expert in securities, funds, finance, and corporate matters, is a lawyer from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Universidad de Chile. She began her career at Bofill Mir, where she worked for nearly 10 years, and she now returns to lead new developments in the Capital Markets practice. She also worked as a senior associate at Honorato Delaveau.
