Bofill Mir counsels Geely on jv with Renault
Bofill Mir Abogados has counselled Geely on a joint venture with Renault Group to launch a new powertrain technology company dedicated to the development, manufacture and supply of high-efficiency ICE and hybrid powertrains.
The new combustion and hybrid powertrain business aims to deliver solutions for 80% of the global ICE and hybrid market to meet worldwide demand in the coming years.
In this transaction, signed on 11 July, the closing of which is still pending, Jones Day China took the lead role in advising Geely. The deal also considered Renault’s businesses in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Turkey.
The advice involved the implementation of the joint venture, the due diligence of Renault’s business in Chile, as well as participation in the review of corporate, regulatory, labour, real estate, intellectual property, contracts, etc., of Renault’s Chilean subsidiary.
