Bragard and BKM advise on partnership between Grupo dos Santos and Ultramar

Bragard, together with BKM Berkemeyer, has represented the shareholders of Global Shipping Paraguay and Unimarine Paraguay, companies of the Chilean group Ultramar Agencia Marítima, in their association with Navemar and Paramar, both members of Grupo dos Santos.

The transaction in the Hidrovía Paraguay-Paraná, involved a 50-50% joint venture of both groups in Paraguay, with the advice of Estudio Vial y Cía. in Chile, and of Bragard and BKM under Paraguayan law.

Grupo dos Santos started its activities in 1958 as a shipping agent, and today extends its services through the maritime agency Navemar; air, maritime-river and land transport thanks to Paramar; as well as Paranave, river shipowner in the Paraguay-Parana waterway; and the container port terminals Terport.

Ultramar was founded in Chile in 1952, starting as a shipping agent for the German shipping companies Hamburg Süd & Hapag Lloyd. It currently has a presence in more than 16 countries in the Americas, through more than 80 operating companies, and offers stevedoring and unstowing services, warehousing, container transport and storage, air representation and port investments.
